Two Saints Named to Gold Glove Team; Lehman Also NAIA Honorable Mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two Siena Heights baseball players -- pitcher Corey Alexander (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) and shortstop Cory Lehman (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) -- were named to the 2012 Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove Team as the Saints were the only squad in the nation to land two players on the nine-man honoree lineup. Lehman was also named NAIA All-America Honorable Mention.

Lehman was the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year, finishing with a .985 fielding percentage. He had 159 assists and 100 putouts while making only four errors. Offensively, he finished with a .377 average, 19 doubles, five triples and two home runs. He also had 35 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.

Alexander, who joined Lehman on the All-WHAC First Team, had a spotless 1.000 fielding percentage. In 32 chances, he had 29 assists and three putouts. Baserunners had a .538 stolen-base percentage against Alexander, stealing seven bases but getting caught six times.

Alexander finished the season with an 8-4 record and 1.96 ERA. He also recorded 65 strikeouts and seven complete games.
