The following was printed on Jim Miller's HOF plaque:
As a freshman cross-country runner in 1979, Miller became the first NAIA All-American ever in any sport at Siena Heights College. Miller placed 19th overall at the ’79 championships at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside with a time of 25:40. Miller’s All-American time was also a freshman record at Siena Heights that stood for twenty years.
Miller duplicated his NAIA All-American effort in 1982 with a 17th-place finish at the 26th Annual NAIA Men’s Cross Country Championships with a time of 25:41. Sandwiched between his NAIA All-American performances were a NJCAA All-American performance in 1980 while attending Jackson Community College.
Another highlight in Miller’s outstanding running career was his NAIA District #23 individual cross country championship in 1982.
Miller came to Siena Heights as a graduate of Adrian High School. He currently works as a recreation director at the Maurice Spear Campus in Adrian.
