The following was written on Gerald Schlemer's Hall of Fame Plaque.
Gerald Schlemer served as the Athletic Trainer at Siena Heights University from 1996 to 2004. During his tenure, Schlemer consistently worked 60–70 hours per week, covering practices and home athletic events while also managing insurance claims, overseeing injury rehabilitation, and collaborating closely with team physicians and the local medical community.
Schlemer developed and led a dedicated staff of student workers, graduate interns, and part-time athletic trainers, building a cohesive unit committed to serving Siena Heights student-athletes and the broader community. In addition to his athletic training responsibilities, he held numerous leadership and service roles across the university, including adjunct faculty member, McNair Program mentor, member of the Wellness Team, Curriculum Committee, and Design Recommendation Task Force. He also played a key role in preparing students for the NATABOC Examination through the athletic training internship program.
Schlemer was appointed Acting Assistant Director of Athletics and served as secretary of the Hall of Fame Committee and a member of the Staff Advisory Council. He chaired the Fieldhouse Addition Project and the Track and Soccer Complex Design Task Force, and also served on the Fieldhouse Renovation and Softball Complex Design Task Forces.
In recognition of his outstanding service and dedication, Schlemer was named the recipient of the Siena Heights Staff Excellence Award for the 1999–2000 academic year.
