Dettling was a two-year starter on the District 23 Championship teams of 1988–89 and 1989–90, squads that combined to win 60 games. He finished his career with 940 points and 452 rebounds while shooting an outstanding 55.49 percent from the field. Dettling also recorded 29 blocks and 63 steals during his career.
