The 2002–03 Siena Heights University men’s basketball team compiled a 28–8 overall record and a 12–2 record in WHAC play. The Saints swept both the WHAC Regular Season and WHAC Tournament Championships and earned a berth in the NAIA National Championship Tournament as the No. 6 overall seed. Siena Heights dropped a closely contested opening-round game by three points to the host school.
The team’s 28 victories rank among the top single-season totals in program history. During the season, the Saints also captured the Malone McKinly Grand Hotel Tournament title.
Fred Smith was named WHAC Coach of the Year, while Steve Biggs earned First Team All-WHAC honors. Lloyd Cowles was named to the WHAC All-Defensive Team, and Doug Gray and Jason Rennie received Academic All-WHAC recognition. Biggs added NAIA Second Team All-American honors, while Gray earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and NAIA Scholar-Athlete accolades.
The roster included six future Hall of Famers—Steve Biggs, Lloyd Cowles, Perry Gilbert, Doug Gray, Greg McPherson, and Jason Rennie—and the team was led by Hall of Fame coaches Fred Smith and Al Sandifer, along with SHU Hall of Famer Byron Johnson.
