GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Ashley Russo and Elaine Johnson placed eighth and 14th, respectively, as the Siena Heights women's cross country team tied for second among 10 teams at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday. A total of 100 runners competed.
Based on their performances, Russo and Johnson were named to the All-WHAC Second Team; Russo earned a trip to the NAIA Championships.
Russo clocked in at 18:51 on the 5K course while Johnson finished in 19:14. Also scoring for SHU, Kristin Stobinski was 21st in 19:40, Lucia Alfaro was 22nd in 19:44 and Lauren McMahon took 23rd -- also in 19:44.
Erica Oram was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team.
Aquinas won the team championship with 19 points. SHU tied Cornerstone with 81 points. Carley Woolcott of Aquinas won the individual title, finishing in 18:18.
