Siena got off to a slow start in the first set as Lourdes hopped out to a 4-0 lead. The Gray Wolves extended the lead to 15-5 and forced the Saints to call a timeout. Siena was unable to climb back in it and Lourdes jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-14 win.

The Saints righted the ship in the second as they hopped out to a 2-0 lead before building a small, four-point advantage at 10-6. Lourdes would rally and bring the score to 17-16 before a SHU timeout halted play. The stoppage worked, as the Saints hammered a 5-0 run out of the break to take a 22-16 lead and force a Gray Wolves timeout. Lourdes scored first once play resumed, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback as SHU knotted things up with a 25-19 win.

The score was close through the first part of the third as the teams tied five times to a 7-7 deadlock. Bates recorded a kill that sparked a 4-0 run for Siena that put the score at 14-9, Saints. Lourdes responded with a 4-0 run of its own to come within a point of tying things up. The score would tie twice more to a lock at 20 points each before a service ace by Sam Huddleston (Brooklyn, Mich.) caused a Lourdes timeout with the score at 21-20, SHU. Coming out of the break, the teams traded points for two more ties. Samantha Getson (Morenci, Mich.) got a kill to put SHU up 23-22 when the Gray Wolves used their final timeout. The Saints would hold on and score two of the final three points in the set to take a 2-1 lead.

The fourth set was all Siena at the beginning as the Saints used two 4-0 runs and a 6-0 run to grow a 16-6 advantage. Lourdes would get the score as close as four-points down, but couldn't catch up as Siena ended the night with a 25-21 win to take the match.

• Aline Marinelo (Brazil) had a big fourth set as she recorded half of her 12 kills during the match in the final set. She finished the match with a .370 hitting percentage.
