ADRIAN, Mich. -- The third seed, Siena Heights women's volleyball team hosted the seventh seed, Northwestern Ohio in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament second round contest on Wednesday. The Saints defeated the Racers in four sets and will advance to the WHAC tournament semifinals. Set scores were 25-19, 24-26, 25-14 and 25-19.
SHU started off strong, taking the first set, before UNOH was able to even the match after winning the second. The Saints (25-6 overall) were determined to finish off the Racers (22-16 overall) and won sets three and four to end the match.
Leading the Saints' attack was Christine Tylutki with 20 kills. Libby Breton added 13 kills to go with a team high, eight blocks. Amanda Metz finished with 36 assists and a SHU best, three aces. Anna Tartarian completed the contest with 19 digs, followed by Gabrielle Kalugar with 15.
With the win, Siena Heights will move on to the WHAC tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov. 10 where they will take on the No. 2 seed and No. 18 nationally ranked, Cornerstone. The match will be played at Madonna at 5:00 p.m.
