Women's Volleyball Set to Open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Play

The Siena Heights women's volleyball team will open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this week on Wednesday when they face off against No. 22 Lourdes. On Saturday, they will travel to South Bend, Ind. to take on IU-South Bend and Goshen (Ind.) in non-conference contests.

The Saints capped off a 4-0 week last week to make their overall record 8-1, as they went undefeated in their own, Siena Heights Tournament. SHU swept Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.), Spring Arbor and St. Ambrose (Iowa) and defeated Lawrence Tech 3-2.

Last season, Siena Heights fell twice to No. 22 Lourdes, both ending in three sets. The Gray Wolves are 6-3 so far this season, as they head into the week to face Siena Heights and Bethel (Ind.).

SHU swept Goshen last season in their only meeting at the Concordia Kick-Off Tournament. The Maple Leafs are out to a 5-4 overall start to their 2017 season.

The Saints took on IU-South Bend at the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic in 2016, and defeated the Titans 3-1. This season, the Titans are 3-3 as they enter this week where they will face Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), St. Francis (Ind.), Siena Heights and Goshen.

Next week, Siena Heights women's volleyball will resume WHAC play as they head to Rochester on Wednesday, Sept. 13, before hosting Lawrence Tech on Saturday Sept. 16.
