The Siena Heights women's volleyball team ranks No. 4 in the 2017 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Volleyball Preseason Rating. The Saints finished last season with a 21-12 overall record and an 8-8 conference record, including a trip to the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal.
Cornerstone sits at the top of the poll. The Golden Eagles, who tied with Lourdes for the regular-season championship last season for a share of their fifth volleyball title (tied with Madonna in 1997 1999, 2000, 2005), received seven of the the 12 first-place votes. Lourdes was voted second and received the remaining five first-place votes. The Gray Wolves won championships in 2015 and 2016. Madonna, the most decorated program in the WHAC, landed at No. 3. The Crusaders own 14 titles, including 12 straight (1997-2008) and again in 2012 and 2013.
The conference is divided into an East and West Division for the regular season. The East Division includes Indiana Tech, Lawrence Tech, Madonna, Marygrove, UNOH, and UM-Dearborn. The West Division is comprised of Aquinas, Concordia, Cornerstone, Lourdes, Rochester, and Siena Heights. Rochester is making its debut in the WHAC this year after becoming a full member on July 1.
The preseason poll was based on votes from all head coaches in the conference.
