#10 Women's Lacrosse Coasts to Victory Over Cleary in Season Opener

BRIGHTON, Mich. -- The No. 10 Siena Heights women's lacrosse team opened the 2018 season against non-conference opponent, Cleary. The game was played indoors at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Mich. The Saints were able to come away with the convincing, 27-7 victory. 

Cleary (0-1 overall) opened scoring but SHU quickly answered and scored three in a row. The Saints were able to really open the gap, starting halfway through the first, and going in to the second half when they scored 11 unanswered goals. 

Jenna Sommerville led the Siena Heights (1-0 overall) with six goals on her six attempted shots on goal. Taylor Swartz finished with a team high, seven assists to go with three goals. Freshman goalkeeper Lizzy Elliott, earned the win in goal, making six saves on the day. 

Cleary was led by Hana Barnett with three goals and Brooke Graham making the only assist for the Cougars. 

Next up, the Saints will travel to take on Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) in a non-conference contest on Saturday, March 3. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
