The Siena Heights women's golf team was selected to finish third in the 2020 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preseason Coaches Poll that was released by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The preseason poll is voted on by the coaches in the league who rank the teams in the league from 1-12. 12 points are given to the team at the top of the list, 11 points to the second-ranked team, and so on to determine the order of the poll.
Defending WHAC champion, Indiana Tech, tied with UNOH for the top spot on the chart. Both teams received six first-place votes and finished with 137 points. Siena Heights was third with 102 points while Aquinas just missed third place with 101 points. Madonna rounded out the top five with 96 points. Lawrence Tech finished with 95 points to claim the sixth spot in the poll. Cleary totaled 81 points for seventh while Lourdes had 57 points for eighth. Cornerstone claimed the ninth position with 50 points and UM-Dearborn totaled 32 points for 10th. Concordia (Mich.) and Rochester capped the preseason poll with 28 and 20 points.
The women's golf team begins the 2020 season on Thursday, September 24 at the Adrian College Invitational taking place at the Hills of Lenawee Country Club.
