Siena Heights women's basketball senior Demi Russell (Toledo, Ohio) was chosen the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) women's basketball player of the week as announced by the league office this afternoon.
Russell recorded a double-double against Calumet St. Joseph to start the week. Against #25 Lawrence Tech, she shot 10-17 from the floor and 10-14 from the charity stripe to record the second 30-point game of her career. She hauled in 15 rebounds to complete her third straight double-double. 12 of her 17 fourth-quarter-points were scored in the final 6:07 of the game to lead the Saints to the win. She finished the week averaging a double-double with 21.0 PPG and 12.5 RPG.
This is the first WHAC player of the week award for Russell. It is the third WHAC player of the week award for the Saint Women's Basketball team this year (Banks on Dec. 9 & Nov. 11).
Russell leads the Saints on the road against Rochester this Wednesday, January 15 in a WHAC contest. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m., EST.
