The Siena Heights women's basketball team was selected fourth in the 2019-20 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preseason Coaches Poll that was released by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The Saints finished the 2018-19 regular season fourth in the league standings with a 15-5 mark in WHAC play.
The preseason poll is voted on by the coaches in the league who rank the teams in the league from 1-11. 11 points are given to the team at the top of the list, 10 points to the second-ranked team, and so on to determine the order of the poll.
Defending WHAC champion Indiana Tech took the top spot in the poll by receiving all 11 first-place votes to total 121 points. Michigan-Dearborn was second on the list with 101 points. Aquinas (96) points edged Siena Heights (93) by three points to claim the third spot. Rochester tallied 79 points for fifth and Lawrence Tech received 69 points for sixth. Concordia (Mich.) registered 57 points for seventh place while Lourdes had 42 points for eighth. Northwestern Ohio (28), Cornerstone (22), and Madonna (18) finish the preseason poll.
The Saints kick the season off on Saturday, November 2 when they host Great Lakes Christian. Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., EST.
