The Siena Heights women's basketball team is ranked second behind Indiana Tech in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference preseason poll, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Last season the Saints finished 24-10 overall and 15-7 in the WHAC, and made its fourth trip in five years to the NAIA DII National Tournament.
Indiana Tech received all 11 first place votes after finishing No. 16 in the final NAIA DII Coaches Poll last season and completing last season with an overall record of 25-8 and conference record of 18-4. The Warriors finished second in the WHAC regular season rankings last season, but fell to the Saints in the semifinals of the WHAC tournament.
SHU finished third in the regular season rankings at the end of the 2016-17 season, then advanced to the WHAC tournament finals to face off against Davenport, after defeating Cornerstone in the conference tournament first round, and then Indiana Tech in the semifinals.
Siena Heights will kick off its 2017-18 season on Wednesday, Nov. 8 when they host Spring Arbor in a non-conference contest. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
