DETROIT, Mich. -- The No. 25 Siena Heights women's basketball team faced off against Marygrove on Saturday, and came away with the 82-75 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory.
At the end of the first period, the Saints (21-7, 14-6 WHAC) only led by one, with a score of 22-21. Going into halftime, SHU had opened to lead to five, making the score 42-37.
Both teams scored 23 points in the third quarter and went into the final frame with a five point advantage, favoring Siena Heights. In the fourth period, the Saints were able to outscore the Mustangs and hold on for the victory.
April Watson led the Saints with a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds. four other Saints also scored in double figures, Jaaliyah Arrington (19), Ashley Perry (13), Clara Waidley (12) and Sharmaine Wills (10). Azalea Miller led Siena Heights with seven assists.
Marygrove (3-25, 1-19 WHAC) was led by Elisha Major with 35 points. Kadesha Taylor added 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Up next, the Saints will host No. 6 Davenport on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
