SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team competed in their first of two games in Puerto Rico on Sunday against Turabo. The Saints walked away with a convincing 84-53 victory.
At the end of the first period the Saints led the ball game 21-14, but an even stronger second quarter helped boost SHU to a 44-20 lead at halftime.
In the third period Siena Heights scored 30 points, while holding Turabo to just 14, and was holding onto a 74-34 advantage after three. In the fourth period, the Saints were held to just 10 points while Turabo knocked in 19, but it did not phase SHU.
Lisvette Aviles scored a team high 17 points for Turabo and also was the team leader with six rebounds.
The Saints will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 19 when they take on Cayey in Puerto Rico with a tipoff at 12 p.m. AST. The JV squad will play before, with a start time of 10 a.m. AST.
