Siena Heights Junior Racquel Ward was named the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 29th. For Ward, this is her second Pitcher of the Week award (March 20th) and third WHAC award overall (Player of the Week April 3rd).
Ward went 3-0 in the Saints' games last week, throwing in three of the four games. She threw a complete game in a 17 inning 8-4 win against Cornerstone, allowing four runs, two earned runs, and striking out 13 batters. She earned two wins over Lourdes, throwing a complete game seven inning 4-1 win, and then earned a win in relief, throwing another five innings in a 10 inning 9-8 win.
On the week, Ward threw 29 of the 41 innings pitched. Opponents hit only .210 against her on the week, she allowed only 22 hits, 17 of them being singles. Her efforts last week, helped the Saints to finish in 3rd place in the WHAC, their highest finish in many years.
The Saints will return to action in the WHAC Tournament on Wednesday night when they start off with Indiana Tech at 6 pm.
