The Siena Heights softball team was picked seventh in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league recently. Last season, SHU finished with a 26-19 overall record while going 10-10 in WHAC play. The Saints ended the season as the seventh seed entering the WHAC Tournament.
There's a tie for the top spot in the 2018 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Softball Preseason Poll. Head coaches in the league voted Aquinas and UM-Dearborn as the teams to beat in the upcoming season. The teams both received 98 points in the poll with UM-Dearborn receiving three first-place votes and Aquinas two. Madonna finished third with 96 total points and five first-place nods. UM-Dearborn finished third last year and Aquinas finished fourth. New to the league this year is Rochester College. The Warriors competed as an independent last year.
The top eight teams at the end of regular season qualify for the WHAC Tournament May 2-4 at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio. The regular-season champion earns the league's first automatic berth to the NAIA Softball Opening Round and the tournament winner takes the second berth. Should those two teams be the same, the tournament runner-up receives the second berth.
