The Siena Heights men's volleyball team hosts their final home contest this month, on Wednesday, facing Lawrence Tech in the first conference match of the season. Friday and Saturday, the Saints will travel to Campbellsville, Ky. To take on Judson (Ill.), Robert Morris (Ill.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) in the CU Invitational.
SHU enters conference play with a 5-1 record, sweeping the competition so far except for Mount Mercy (Iowa) on Jan. 26. As a team, the Saints average 12.33 kills per set while holding a .197 hitting percentage. Siena Heights also averages 2.11 service aces and 12.22 digs per set.
Lawrence Tech is 1-8 overall with a 0-1 conference record, losing to Lourdes on Jan. 31. The team has earned 211 kills in 22 sets of action with a .100 hitting percentage. The Blue Devils have amassed 198 digs and 30 blocks in 22 sets of action.
At the invitational, SHU will face Judson (1-10), Robert Morris (3-1) and Campbellsville (3-4).
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Leading the Saints with 3.89 kills per set is Kyle Browne, who also manages 2.00 digs a set. Helping the Saints with 3.11 kills and 2.39 digs a set is Tyler Hubbard-Neil as Jack Pranckus earns 3.33 digs per set in the back row. Setter Keegan Crawford manages 9.72 assists per set while earning 2.00 digs a set.
The Blue Devils are led by Alejandro Gonzalez, who earns on average 3.1 kills and 1.4 digs each set. Joshua Eckert averages 2.6 digs per set as Gospel Sua manages 8.3 assists a set.
