GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Siena Heights juniors Nolan Lyons and Parker Richards were the two representatives of the Saints men's lacrosse team to be selected a 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete as announced by the national office on Friday afternoon. This is the first year for both of these student-athletes to be awarded an NAIA scholar-athlete.
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
The 2019 list includes 35 men's lacrosse student-athletes from NAIA institutions across the country. Michigan-Dearborn led all Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) members with four selections. Lourdes and Taylor (Ind.) each had three to tie for the second most. Siena Heights and Aquinas fell third with two scholar-athletes. Indiana Tech, Lawrence Tech, and Madonna each had one representative on the list.
