The Siena Heights men's basketball team was chosen to fourth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preseason Coaches Poll that was released by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints finished the 2018-19 season with a 17-13 overall record and a 12-8 mark in conference play for fourth-place in the WHAC standings.
The preseason poll is voted on by the coaches in the league who rank the teams in the league from 1-11. 11 points are given to the team at the top of the list, 10 points to the second-ranked team, and so on to determine the order of the poll.
Madonna received 10 of the 11 first-place votes to top the poll with 120 points. Cornerstone received the final first-place nod to reach 103 points for second. Indiana Tech finished with 90 points to just edge Siena Heights (89) for third. Rochester was fourth with 73 points while Lourdes was sixth with 68. UM-Dearborn had 58 points for seventh; Aquinas tallied 42 points for eighth. UNOH (33), Lawrence Tech (27), and Concordia (Mich.) (23) round out the preseason poll.
Siena Heights opens the season on Tuesday, October 29 when they host Grace Christian. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., EST.
