SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team took on Lourdes in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, and walked away with the 69-61 victory.
To begin the game, the Saints (10-8, 5-6 WHAC) took their first and final lead with 17:32 left in the half, and scored 18 unanswered points to gain a 20-4 advantage over the Gray Wolves. SHU went into halftime, up 32-22.
In the second half, SHU and LU battled, but the Saints were able to hold off the Gray Wolves and keep control of the contest. With 5:49 left in the game, Lourdes (3-15, 2-9 WHAC) achieved their smallest deficit of the second half, but Siena Heights answered by scoring the next bucket, and went on to take the victory.
Four Saints scored in double figures, led by Chris Pearl with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jerrell Martin, Josh Winowiecki and Nick Randle added 14, 12 and 11 points respectively. Martin led SHU on the glass with nine boards.
Levert Bristol led Lourdes with 17 points, while Anthony Swanigan added 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they travel to Indiana Tech for a WHAC contest. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
