Football Hosts the Season Opener Against Northwood on Saturday
The Siena Heights football team is set to take on NCAA Div. II opponent Northwood in their opening game of the 2017 season. SHU will host the event with a 12 p.m. start on Saturday, September 2.
Northwood is an NCAA Div. II school in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Last season the Timberwolves earned a 3-8 overall record.
The Saints look to improve on last season's 5-5 record, including a 2-4 Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League finish.
All Siena Heights football games will be webcast on the Siena Heights Sports Network, which can be accessed via the Stretch Internet link on WWW.SHUSAINTS.COM. Live stats can be followed online at WWW.SHUSAINTS.COM.
SHSN will provide live video for each Saints' home game. Play-by-play will be called by Chris Renwick with Doug Goodnough providing color commentary. Renwick is in his second year with the Saints broadcast team while Goodnough resumes his role in SHSN for his second consecutive season.
SHSN and WLEN 103.9 FM have also enjoyed a five-year partnership. All games will be audio-streamed online at WLEN.COM while select games will be broadcasted live on the radio.
Siena Heights will host Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) in a MSFA Crossover contest. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9.
The Tigers will travel to  Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) for a 2 p.m. contest on Sept. 2. ONU is currently 1-0 for the season after a 31-24 victory over Kansas Wesleyan.
