ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights cheerleading team competed in the 2018 NAIA Cheer & Dance Northeast Regional Qualifier at the Siena Heights Fieldhouse, on Saturday, taking seventh of 13 teams competing.
The Saints scored 74.65 points, jumping over Aquinas College and the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) after the preliminary round.
In the preliminary round, Siena Heights scored a 74.23, including a 1.75 deduction. In the finals, SHU managed a 75.37 without deductions. That is the first competition all season the Saints had zero deductions. The overall score includes 25% of the preliminary score and 75% of the final round score.
University of St. Francis (Ind.) took first scoring 86.35 points. Concordia University (84.12), St. Ambrose University (83.72), Lourdes University (82.90), Robert Morris University (80.44) and Indiana Wesleyan University (79.51) placed in front of the Saints.
Siena Heights awaits its fate to see if the Saints received an at-large bid the 2018 NAIA Cheer & Dance National Championships hosted in Oklahoma City, Okla., March 8-9.
