ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Lourdes in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday. The Saints won the contest 4-1.
SHU (4-10 overall) jumped out to lead the Gray Wolves in the first inning scoring two runs. In the second, Lourdes scored one of their own, but Siena Heights scored two again to give them a 4-1 lead. Neither team scored the rest of the way and the Saints were able to hang on for the victory.
Thomas Lindeman led the Saints at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 and scoring two runs. Jack Slavin went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored the other two runs for Siena Heights. Brendan Green batted 2-for-4 and knocked in one RBI. Brenden Baker drove in two RBI's.
Earning the win on the mound for SHU was Thomas Lindeman, pitching five innings and recording five strikeouts. Robert Oliver III came in for relief and grabbed the save while pitching the remaining four innings, only giving up one hit and striking out four.
Glen Crabtree batted 1-for-4 for Lourdes (3-4 overall) and scored the Gray Wolves lone run. Zach Brown started at pitcher for LU and suffered the loss. Brown pitched six innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out seven.
Next up, the Saints will host Definace in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Feb. 28. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
